The Accelerator is an interesting addition to the Swagbucks website, mainly because it is the one earning method that isn't free (other than Shop and Earn and some of the pay-for-points offers, but that goes without saying). There are currently two plans available: For $4.99 a month, they will match you up to 700 Swagbucks, and for $9.99 a month, they'll match up to 1500 Swagbucks. Using the basic "1 SB = $0.01" formula, that translates to this: spend $5, earn $7, or spend $10, and earn $15--you're making $2 or $5 profit, respectively. That's nice and all, but is the Swagbucks Accelerator really worth it, or is it too risky a proposition for most?
There are two obvious answers to this question, both are a little contradictory. The Accelerator is definitely not worth it if you aren't consistently making Swagbucks. Granted, earning 700 or even 1500 Swagbucks a month isn't hard to do, but actively Swagbucking isn't always an option for everyone--some people only occasionally frequent the site.
Then again, if you are actively bringing in Swagbucks every day, the Accelerator is kind of a no brainer. It may seem a little risky for some--you're literally having to spend money to earn a little more money--but since you can only attach it your PayPal account, chances are high you're only using the money actually earned from using Swagbucks (assuming that you don't use your PayPal account for anything else--either way, the point remains).
I signed up for the Swagbucks Accelerator as soon as it became available at the end of 2013, and it has acted as a nice little way to boost my monthly earnings. Since my Swagbucks earnings act as sort of a "fun money" account, I usually add $10 to my PayPal account so it doesn't dip into my actual Swagbucks earnings. Sure, I'm technically spending my "real" payroll money, but hey, what's $10 a month for a little leisure? And the Accelerator never really comes into direct contact with my checking account, so it's not like I'm going crazy with it.
My ultimate recommendation--definitely give the Accelerator a try, but make sure you have enough padding in your PayPal account. It's not something I'd suggest for the absolute beginner, but intermediate and advanced Swagbuckers may find it a pleasant, if not slightly subtle, way to make a little more money every month.
